In order to be accountable one must be willing to take ownership of a result regardless of the outcome. In my opinion this can go beyond the direct effect of an outcome, accountability must be taken for indirect effects as well. Therefore when a decision is being a made, a person attempting to be truly accountable will weigh all possible outcomes of their decision to determine its potential effects on all related parties. In my opinion the strongest leaders are those that choose to accept accountability for not only their actions, but the actions of those that they are responsible for. If I were to tell someone something confidential, my assumption would be that it stays between the privileged parties.
