Tony Dungy is a former head coach for the NFL for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and also the Indianapolis Colts. The quote means that doing right in situations should be prioritized no matter the difficulty. The quote connects to the literature because these characters and people in the texts are all faced with courageous choices, and all chose to do whats best for everyone no matter how painful it is.
