Before I start I would like to say that this is not supposed to anger or upset anyone, with that I thank you for reading this. Did you know that about 31 out of 50 states in the United States allow businesses to be discriminatory against people within the LGBTQ+ community? Well, they do. Like a lesbian couple who couldn’t get healthcare for their daughter because they were a lesbian couple. Discrimination against the LGBTQ+ community should be ended permanently, because it’s unconstitutional, it’s confusing, and unfair, or unequal, treatment to others.

It’s against the 14th Amendment, in my mind. The 14th Amendment states that “All persons born or naturalized in the United States … are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside. No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, … ; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.” So, isn’t the LGBTQ+ community, at least in the United States, citizens? If we are why do states allow companies to deprive the community of life? It also says in the Declaration of Independence that “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed … certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness” In this case, I believe that the “men” the document is talking about is actually “all people”. So, if all people have the “unalienable Rights” of “Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.” Why are people in the LGBTQ+ community having these “rights” taken away from them? For these obvious reasons, at least obvious in my mindset, I strongly believe that this discrimination is not only unconstitutional but also against the very document our founding fathers promised to us to be
