Abstract In recent years business leaders have realized that in order for America to improve its educational system and develop a world-class workforce, federal and state government need to make early childhood education programs for children a top priority. Therefore, there are more and more people concerning about the importance of early childhood education. This paper reviews the findings of nine early intervention programs in the USA, after that it provides a brief summary of the theories of teaching and historical context, the effects and the methods of this education. Based on the findings of the research, the paper draws the conclusion that the early childhood is really essential for the children’s best development, there is absolutely hope that it can be more common not only America but also all over the world.
The early phase children learn two basic cultural concept, inside of the house and the outside world. For example in Japanese households, removing shoes before entering the house presents the inside, which also represent safety and security. Therefore the outside present the strangers, ghosts and demons. At the age of 2 years, build up person relations with neighbours, at the age of 4 are introduced to the outsider day nursery, at first they will refuse to join, but eventually become involved with the new group. Children learn to cooperate with one another and begin to develop an Identity.
It is important to note that by the time child is three years old, their brain has been 90% developed, which is quite mind blowing. Therefore it is important to create a positive environment so the child’s brain is enriched with great information. An example is a child needs to be fed with nutritional food with the proper mix of vitamins and protein because failure to do so “can have effects lasting far past the early years in areas as diverse as cognitive development, physical health, work capacity, and earning power” (Martorell, 2013, pg. 86). If a child is born in poverty, they may not have the same nutritional value as a child born in an economically stable atmosphere. This could also include how involved the parents are in the child's life and whether they provide a lot of human contact, speak fluently or providing comfort.
