I’ve never really had to explain myself. To those who know me, I’ve always been smart, clever, and capable, the one you go to when you need something done. It was always assumed that I would achieve whatever I wanted mostly with ease and grace. I never had to try to pursue something beyond simply wanting it. When I was growing up it was unclear on what I wanted to be. Throughout time, though, I have it clear that I want to help people not matter their situation. I decided to study PA because I struggle to survive when I was little and from where I come from no one, it’s help anyone because there is no medical help in the area. Being an LPN was one of the milestones for me to become an RN. As a student right now I will follow the same path as I did as an LPN because it was effective for me, as a result I was able to complete the course and obtain my LPN license . As a parent, a student, I had to take into consideration the well being of my family while I was trying to become a nurse. My Future Career, Nurse Practitioner A nurse practitioner is a nurse with a graduate degree in advanced practice nursing. When I was little I always said I wanted to become a nurse practitioner. It was something about being able to help patients overcome their illnesses that interested me the most.
There are many reasons why I am interested in volunteering in an acute care setting. The first and main reason I would like to volunteer at George Washington University Hospital is because I am very passionate about helping others and making a difference in someone’s life, even if it’s in a small way. Having been in the hospital before, I know first-hand that being in the hospital isn’t the most enjoyable for the patient or family. If offering time out of my schedule helps alleviate what they might be going through and puts a smile on their face, I know I’ve helped make a difference. I always used to tell people that I wanted to study something that it is related to medicine but not medicine itself. The only option that was available for me is nursing and I loved that option.
