Teens today are taking longer to grow up. Teens are different from how they used to act and behave. Therefore teens today are taking longer to grow up into young adults. It could be on how they were raised or their cultural background. If teens are taking longer to mature then they are less likely to get a job until they are ready and mature enough. According to the article “Why Today’s Teens Are Taking Longer To Grow Up” , pregnancy among teens have reached an all time low. Even less teens are having sex. Drinking alcohol and working. However, Jess Williams says that “they’re just more boring”, or they’re lazy and do not want to work. These trends have been occurring since 2011. Even today’s teens spend less time doing homework than the teens in the 1990’s. Today’s teens are delaying pleasures and responsibilities of adulthood. Its seems like teens are extending their childhood versus maturing into young adults. Whether teens develop “slow” or “fast” is based on their cultural context. If families have fewer kids the teen is less likely to mature and develops at a slower pace. Where as if teens have to work for themselves and fend for themselves than they develop at a much faster rate. Teens who have more sibling’s are most likely to mature quicker. Also they will mature quicker if their parents raised them to work for what they want. Growing up slowly is not a “good” or “bad” thing. It is how they mature and how responsible they are/become. The faster they become mature and responsible they are most likely to be working at a young age. Where as the slower they mature they are less likely to be responsible and less likely they are to have/want a job and family. These teens will also most likely require guidance as they mature into
