I’m sure you’ll all agree that lying is bad, so why are you letting the media get away with it on a daily basis?
The misrepresentation of teenagers in the media is appalling, perpetually stereotyping them as self-absorbed, disrespectful and lazy people; although this is far from the truth. There are variety of reasons why teenagers are represented in the media in such an unrealistic way, which all have adverse effects on many people throughout society.

One example of this is figures from the Australian Institute of Criminology showing assault rates of 15-19 year olds being 886 per 100,000 compared to the 85 per 100,000 with 55-59 year olds. Being compared to this age group, which will hardly commit any form of assault, as well as the fact that teenage crime is one of the most widely reported topics in media, makes such events seem more common and purposeful; embedding the idea throughout society that teens are dangerous and malicious. These beliefs have so greatly impacted society that people automatically associated terms like “lazy”, “unreliable” and “disrespectful” with teenagers. Surely your experience alone is enough to prove that this is more than unfair, that teenagers are more than these 2 dimensional stereotypical ratbags. Consequently, many teenagers’ prospects of getting jobs has been significantly tarnished.
