Curfews could, and have, helped in many ways around the United states. From lowering crime, to helping parents, and even disciplining kids. From the article Are Public Curfews Fair? written by ReadWorks, we now have a myriad of information, and evidence on curfews. S.E. Hinton wrote an inspiring novel, The Outsiders, that received many accolades; in this novel we see that the characters could have benefitted from curfews. Suitably, The Outsiders will be an example of how curfews can and have helped different people.
As is the case with little Aiyana Stanley-Jones who was seven years old when she was sleeping on her couch and subsequently shot by Detroit police during a raid; as if a sleeping second grader could present any sort of danger to a grown man. The frenzied raid was warranted on the suspicion that a murderer was residing in the home. This is no problem, no one should be upset that the police are attempting to actually do their job and apprehend a possible killer. However, they didn’t just seize the man they later convicted with first degree murder, they themselves murdered a child. The events of what occurred were fuzzy at best, perhaps this was an accident, perhaps not.
“Many parents in lower income areas work at night most arguments against it talk about how and are not around to correctly supervise their teenage children.” Police have more say in what happens, others say that it will cause the youth to go elsewhere to be able to hang out with their friends. A curfew is about a teenager understanding that, yes, teens can go out and have fun, but there has to be discipline for their bad actions. Our country isn’t sure if they should have curfews for people because most people are good and they don’t break the laws like other people do. In the article America’s curfew debate it says that “curfews violate the fourth amendment and its protections against unreasonable search and seizure.”
“Its up to parents to choose a curfew.” Annually, some parents dont know when to make their childs curfew. They want to limit their kids time in the outside world, but dont want to limit them to much. Once a child hits the teen years they think their parents ae cluless and can not help them anymore. “Were you, Ponyboy?"--- his voice was rising---
This should not be a worry for the child or parents but it has to be because at this point any school is a threat. So a possible factor in decreasing shootings is arming teachers, by doing this teachers can fight back instead of shielding or running from the shooter. Reason #2 teachers can defend their students by changing this law and using correct training teachers should be able to carry a weapon. By doing this not only insure safety it will give relief for parents all over the country. This tactic will give school staffs a chance to outnumber a possible shooter.
If students have lack of sleep, they may not pay attention to the roads and the drivers on the roads, which increases the risk of traffic accidents, (according to www.npr.org). The increased risk of traffic accidents may also be because of how dark it is outside when students have to walk over to the bus stop. It’s so early when kids’ buses come, that it’s usually dark outside, and drivers may not see kids walking. The final reason why middle and high school start times should be later is for the protection of student health.
The gods of the Iliad play with the lives of mortals, like children play with dolls, their intrusion, instrumental in the fall of Troy. Divine intervention by the goddesses Athena, Aphrodite, Hera and Eris began the Trojan war and made it end in the destruction of the city of Troy but Eris, the goddess of strife and discord was the true cause of the Trojan’s defeat, her actions beginning the gods and mortals down a road of chaos. However, the fault does not lie completely with Eris, Athena’s manipulation, Aphrodite’s disregard for anything but her own wants and Hera’s skilled manipulation of her husband destroys Troy with an unforgiving force. The goddess Athena, of war and wisdom, supports the Argives in the Trojan war after being spurned
Your child could be caught up in the next school shooting, and be killed. If only your school cared enough for their students and had a security guard, they would have been able to prevent the whole thing. Schools today still need more security, but how much security they have today, and what more security can and will prevent. Schools need more security today, we can reduce how many people die to school shootings each
Sarah Cardillo October 31, 2017 Class Period 3 Why School Start Times Should Be Later Teenagers and kids these days are loosing a lot of their sleep time due to early school start times. Teenagers aren’t getting the sleep they need to have their minds and bodies function correctly. Not getting enough sleep can lead to many health problems. Teenagers and kids not getting their sleep can result in many different mental and physical problems.
Another reason that schedules shouldn’t be shifted is because teens should be going to bed and not partying. In order to avoid sleepiness, teens should go to bed early. Sleep loss could also be a hazard behind the wheel. It’s estimated that most traffic accidents are caused by drowsy driving.
It would be insane to take a huge risk like that and possibly ruining something of importance. Curfews can also eliminate interference with academics. It has been proven that when teenagers lose significant amounts of sleep, they do not retain knowledge as well as if the had gotten their regular eight hours of sleep. Consequently, staying up tremendously late can ruin a student's grades because they are losing time to study. If a student decides to break the law and stay out past curfew, it could possibly terminate an academic scholarship to a school or college.
Parents are not punishing their child to understand what they did was wrong. Which in my opinion is what is causing these shootings. Many kids now and days are being bullied in some way shape or form and are depressed, suicidal, and so forth. They are not getting the help they need. They are struggling with a mental illness and something can happen that trigger them
Shooting a gun could be something that children might need to do, enabling them to get their mind off of everything. According to article three, Dr. Clouthier explains how, “the wonderful thing about shooting is that it is easier than meditation, it doesn’t get your body pumping nearly as hard as physical aggression does”. This passage notes how shooting a gun involves hardly any patience at all and relieves stress for many people easily. Also, with more freedom comes more responsibility for children, in which they will learn how to become more cautious and realize the effects and the harm guns could cause. To conclude, shooting a gun can help children relieve stress and teach them not to abuse the fact that they are able to shoot
People everyday are being victims to gun violence whether it intentionally or unintentionally. Many of these people are adolescents who are vulnerable to the danger of these incidents. The anxiety of having to know your child's life's in jeopardy in a place where safety is guaranteed. Moreover, if
How many innocent children have to be brutally murdered before it is enough? This has been an uprising topic in today’s society since school shootings are so prevalent. From Kentucky, to Oregon, to Colorado, to Florida, the safety of our nation 's schools have been shattered by gunfire. The ones who have committed such horrible crimes have done these actions for many different reasons, at different times, and at different schools. Yet, they do have at least one thing in common.
