Walking into a high school, it is not uncommon to hear teenagers complain about the strains of an education. They may not realize, however, the numerous benefits of learning. Education is important because it makes the leaders of tomorrow more capable of dealing with real-world issues and eventually leads to economic growth, sustaining society. Any long-time teacher is familiar with a teenager's uninterested groan and the following, "When will we actually use this?" Kids are understandably skeptical that the knowledge they gain will be used outside of school; but in fact, many school subjects provide insight and clarity on the "real world". For example, having knowledge of history allows one to look at the world of today, compare, contrast, and form new, possibly life-shaping opinions. The world in which all humans live hugely revolves around one's knowledge. Jobs will not be done well by someone who does not know what he is doing; therefore, in order to sustain the economy and open doors for new economic growth, the youth of today need to gain knowledge and prosper in education. Although most school subjects do not directly teach about any particular student's career path, the information gained in mandatory core classes will help nonetheless. In example, the world is quickly advancing in technology, and much of the newest STEM jobs require a high level of math comprehension. Without school, it would be much harder to learn these concepts; it would be even harder to be a part of the workforce. Not to mention much of the new technological concepts and programs were created by folks who only got as far as they did because of their education.
