Democratic Government: “A system of government in which power is vested in the people, who rule either directly or through freely elected representatives.” In the view of Canada’s democratic government the Canadian F.P.S. does govern Canada effectively for all Canadians The F.P.S. is effective in governing federal issues for Canadians. There are three federal branches for government. The federal branches have elected/appointed representatives. These branches are The Executive Branch, The Legislative Branch and the Judicial Branch. These branches ensure Canada is a democracy not a dictatorship. For this essay, I will be explaining how each of these branches are effective in the Canadian F.P.S.

The House of Commons is made up of MP’s that are elected by their constituents. The House of Commons also includes the party who won in the election. The role of The House of Commons is to debate and vote on bills. The process of the bill is the first reading, the second reading, committee stage, report stage and the third reading. The House of Commons is effective in the F.P.S because they make sure that the bill that is proposed is not faulty, does not have any errors, they ensure the bill is not abusing citizen rights and they ensure that constituents opinions on the bill are heard. The MP in The House of Commons is also effective because MP’S represent their constituents. With the MP’s in The House of Commons, it is more efficient for the MP to tell its constituents problems directly to the government. The House of Commons is effective in the F.P.S because they make sure the law benefits citizens in Canada and they also secure citizen opinions and rights. The courts of Canada are the supreme court, federal, and provincial. The judges come from different Canadian regions. The judges are nominated by The Prime Minister and The Cabinet, they are then put through a review by the MP committee. The role of the judge is not to be a politician, they apply all rights and laws to proposed bills. They also have the final word on any legal rules and questions. This is effective in the F.P.S because the judges in courts ensure that the bill that has been purposed does not abuse any Canadian rights and they make sure that the bill helps a variety of people across Canada. The supreme court of Canada is the main court in Canada. This court also gets the final word on issues. The supreme court is effective in the F.P.S because this court voices on the federal issues of Canada while the federal court and provincial court deal with internal affairs. This is effective because the power between the courts is distributed. Thus making three levels of government which voice on their own issues. Without the three levels of government the F.P.S would not run smoothly because all the decisions would be done for Canada as whole rather than being done with the internal affairs. For example; if the Ontario government needed more money from taxes, Canada would decide to cut off some of the social programs. Then every citizen would need to pay for the programs. Although, the Alberta government
