Fashion in 1970’s included bright colors, polyester material, and flared pants, which many people wore in different ways. In the 1980’s had lots of brown and tan color clothes, but had bright colored sunglasses and accessories. There were many historical events that happened in the 90’s that influenced fashion.
Baby boomers created their own fashion style, colourful fabrics and bold designs. They rejected the fashion of previous eras and broke social traditions, emerging the development of unisex clothing. In the 1970s the fashion was carefree and diverse, introducing the ‘hippie’ style. This was varied and changed frequently.
The '70s were a time when a myriad of colors and patterns exploded; ABBA and the Bee Gees were taking over, Fonzie was everyone's role model and everything was big. The television sets seemed to take up half of the room and bell-bottom jeans and bell-sleeve tops could double as small parachutes. These flare silhouettes were an absolute staple of the 1970s- everyone and their mama were rocking this fashion-forward trend. The flare silhouette has made an extreme comeback in the fashion world over the past couple of years; whether it be featured in denim, skirts, dresses or tops, it seems that the flare silhouette is a trend that just refuses to die- which I am certainly not complaining about!

The clothing that they wore back in the 1960s was very fashionable. The girls in the 60s wore high necklines, sleeveless cuts, bright and solid colors, shift dresses, and mini skirts. Boys in the 60s would wear denim jeans, trousers, sweaters, jean jackets/ matching blazers, and most of all a plaid vest. Also, there was a style that was referred to as, “Hippie”. The Hippie style was a style with bright colors and loose fitting clothing items such as tunics and caftans.

An importing role played in the changing of fashion was the media. MTV played a major part in impacting fashion. Countless amounts of videos played and of course everyone wanted to be just like all the famous stars they saw, from Madonna’s lace gloves to Snoop Dogg’s dreads.
