The Fast Food industry is an industry, which is growing and becoming a better alternative for those who have no time to prepare a meal and are in a hurry to eat. Fast food restaurants are easily accessible and have a short waiting time. People have thus turned to fast food companies to provide a way for them to fill their hunger. Although people are becoming more aware of healthy eating and the zero kilojoule foods that are provided by most fast food restaurants, the fast food industry still continues to grow. The argument is whether or not fast food companies are to blame for the increasing obesity rate.
There is information that supports and denies the fact that fast food companies are to blame for the ever increasing obesity rate.

Not a link that scientists have seen, for 95% of USA, (Reinberg, 2015)in those who eat fast foods and those who don’t and their obesity.
Exceptions:
• people who are obese
• Those who are underweight
Problem - Americans consume too much food
• Therefore Americans should cut down on the amount they are eating per day
• Another approach needs to be taken rather than just not eating fast foods although cutting back on fast foods is a good start.
Steps that can be taken:
• Individuals should exercise on a frequent base as this can also assist in decreasing the rate of obesity.
• It is proven that individuals eat too much and should therefore cut back on the total amount of food they eat per meal.

Mc Donald’s: (Mandal, 2015) o Big Mac - 540 calories o Medium fries -380 calories o Cool drink - 280 calories
Recommend daily allowance (RDA) is "1500-1800 calories per day" (Mandal, 2015)Therefore the RDA is easily consumed in one meal at Mc Donald’s.
Could the environment in which we are living in be to blame?
Several years back: o People had to make their own food and couldn't simply purchase readymade meals o Prepare for meals long in advance o Obesity rates were much less o Fast food was not an option.
In today’s time: o Fast foods are easily accessible and there are a wide variety of readymade meals o Fast foods are also the cheaper option for many individuals. People see the benefit in fast food being both cheap and filling o People do not have the time to prepare meals
However people do not always realise the consequences of their actions and the long term health problems they can occur from consuming fast
