Restaurant dining and fast-food restaurant dining in particular have been considered as major contributors to the fatness epidemic. People eat out more compared to decades ago, and many of those food are high in fat and sugar. also, portions of food have increased.

High-Fructose Corn Syrup Consumption. High-fructose corn syrup is a sweetener that has been processed to change glucose into fructose. Consumption of high fructose corn syrup has increased substantially in the last several decades and has been speculated to be a contributor to the fatness "epidemic".

Processed food have increased over time and are loaded with added sugar and fat. This is a possible cause of the worldwide "epidemic" of fatness
