Social media has been able to sneak its way into almost all of our lives especially with the rapid advancements of technology. It proves to be very handy but I wonder if we have ever sat down to analyze the evolutionary processes that social media has undergone in a span of a couple years - it is fascinating, simply fascinating! Social media has made its statement and it is here to stay thus, we either adapt to an ever changing technological world or have it pass us by. At one point in time the only the media that existed was television shows, radios and newspapers but that has changed significantly over the past few years. Today, there are more social media websites and applications one can ever imagine. It has made significant impacts that have proven to be both detrimental and beneficial to an individual, to the workplaces and on families.

Once again, social media proves to offer great value. We were subjected to write and mail letters a couple years ago. Now we are able to connect with family and friends no matter how far away they are in just seconds, we are able to reconnect with people we thought were ‘lost’ and make connections with family and friends that may come along (pew research center, 2013). Sadly, with the rapid development in technology social media can become quite disastrous. What was once family time and storytelling has now turned into a technological gathering. We have allowed social media to engulf us and we have lost the importance of face to face interactions, we have lost the meaning of getting together to have fun. It has now become the fad to sit for hours upon hours on social media without passing on a word or two to those around us. It is only a matter of time until we forget what human interaction is
