First day of first grade, the teacher hands out pieces of paper and tells us to write the most creative story we can think of. First day of middle school, the teacher asks us to get out a notebook and write a fascinating story about our summer. First day of high school, the teacher tells us to get our laptops out so we can start working on a paper about what we want to be when we grow up. First day of English Composition I, the teacher tells us to read the syllabus and handouts because assignments will be starting the next week. My journey through reading and writing has been a one-of-a-kind adventure. If you aren’t able to work a computer, or compose an intelligent email, the chances of you obtaining or keeping a job are slim to none. As of right now, I aspire to be a business manager and eventually open my own business. Being able to competently communicate with my company and customer base will give my establishment a more professional ambience. I hope to develop these skills through this class and other classes I take throughout my education. In this class, I hope to learn how to properly state what I am thinking. In the other classes that I will take, I strive to obtain the knowledge to be able to have a knowledgeable conversation in interviews. As a sophomore, I applied for a job at our local nursing home. I had to fill out an application, as well as having an interview. This was a very stressful situation for me, because I hadn’t exactly studied my knowledge on nursing homes. As it turned out, this was more of a personality interview and I was able to talk to my employer easily. Being able to effectively communicate with people of all different levels of intelligence, as well as people who have different worldviews, is a goal that I am always working
