Forbidden Island Game: A True Team Work Experience

I have always had a desire to explore true treasures, and valued competing treasure games, a game in which each team struggles to be first in unearthing something that has been hidden. Once I am not being able to tangibly hunt for treasure, it is enjoyable to play a game in its place and let the imagination guide me. Since I play lots of games, I have discovered there are real delightful treasures to be found by playing games. The gathering of colleagues, family or friends is the greatest part of it. One of my most recent discovered games that I have played and enjoyed was called Forbidden Island Game. It is a true team working experience. The members all win together, or they all lose together. As I was motivated for playing the game, I was actually relating this activity to something a little more pleasant for myself when I was unaware at the time how many pieces of this simulation would recap me of my past experiences in this group setting, and how it interrelated to decision making, communication as well as conflict between members in a team. While we were all still rather unsure about the rules of the game, we started setting up the pieces of the game on the classroom table according to the instructions that was provided to us. Our pre-game strategy was really to deliver the instructions of the game and we thought that was easy to do so. The game rules for Forbidden Island were lengthy to read and unclear to understand. Even though each of us had read the rules ahead of the time, I still suggested we briefly go through it once more to recharge our retentions, and ensure each player had a strategy in understanding. When the rules were elucidated, the confusion arose. We had high faiths for our team, hence we felt unfulfilled when we couldn’t approach to a decision about some rules of the game since the game rules were so confusing for us at first. Numerous elements were holding the team back. For example, one individual in our team was very critical of his teammates' opinions. It was crucial to make sure that all of us had a chance to contribute to the team discussion. With this caveat, we have discovered that the game was a tremendous opportunity for each and every one of us to employ our communication skills and to work as a team, acknowledging and developing the strengths of one another. Therefore, I would suggest Forbidden Island to others to play. I would have appreciated participating in this game, as it would have alleviated to foster a cooperative approach to handling real life issues as they arose in life instead of me versus the world attitude. As the simulation progressed, one thing was for certain to me. We as a team wanted to win each round of the Forbidden game. The game for us was a zero-sum game in which our team all lost or won, however, we all sincerely wanted to support each other out during the
