Introduction This assignment is a brief explanation of the four major developmental theories and how these theories can be taught to students in our teaching to practically apply in their daily life. This is followed by a conclusion. Erikson’s Theory Age group I have taken for this theory is 5 to 11 years, which is Stage 4 - Industry vs. Inferiority. According to Erikson’s theory this is the stage where children enter their life because at this point of their life children work hard to develop their skills through social interaction and if they achieve anything positive, they move on and those who fail feels inferior and useless. Issue A student who is hesitant to speak up, who thinks he can’t do anything right. Solution A student who is hesitant to speak up, who thinks he can’t do anything right can be reinforced often. As a teacher I can give positive comments/feedbacks and encourage him to speak, do work in class which will boost his self-esteem. Tell him that if he wants to be successful in life he has to work on taking initiative and also should trust himself so that he will be sure and confident of what he is doing. Give an example such as telling her how she would feel if someone becomes selfish in front of her without thinking about her. Give her chance to think critically. Teach the kid specific ways to reason and solve problems. Encourage her to ask questions where she can give reasons for her answer so that she can easily build her reasoning skill. Ask her to consider alternative explanations and solutions because some question has more than one answer. Follow children's leads by observing children's interactions and dilemmas, I can support her problem-solving efforts and help her to accomplish her goals.
