How child psychology further affects a child's mental state and later in life problems.
Lonely, desolated, and dejected. A child feels these ways when he or she is abused or neglected and will have these emotions with them for the rest of his or her life compared to Frankenstein, a science fiction novel by Mary Shelley depicts child psychology and the effects that go along with it. Frankenstein is a story about a monster who is created by a scientist, but the scientist does not care or want the creature in his life. Child psychology is the emotional effects a child has from being abused or neglected. Child abuse affects a child's ability to perform everyday tasks and in the book Frankenstein, Victor abuses the monster by not being caring for the monster. Emotional abuse is one type of child abuse, “‘ a parent must be available, loving, responsive, and helpful when the child encounters adverse or frightening situations. If the parent fails to meet the child's needs... normal development is thwarted ”’( Qtd. by Bowlby 1). Emotional abuse of a child has many forms of itself, but there is one common element. These ways of abuse damage a child's self esteem and the child will never be confident in it self ever again. To go along with neglect, a child feels alone and scenes that not one friend or family member will help his or her. Victor abuses the monster by neglecting him, not giving him proper food nourishment, and the lack of teaching the monster the ways of life and how to interact with people in a mannerly way. The effects of child abuse are numerous. Child abuse has a wide array of effects that include, performance in school being hindered, social issues, sexual issues, being under the influence, and suicide. Adults do not have the ability to be in long relationships( “Child Abuse 2”). Child abuse can affect some of the most important aspects of daily life. From grades in school to sexual problems these effects can change the way a person acts, looks, and thinks. Also much later in life an adult have trouble obtaining freinds and establishing relationships. Substance abuse and suicide are other effects that are more serious and might endanger a life. Child abuse can be physical and later in life there could be physical symptoms that arise. Child abuse can happen because of a multitude of reasons.
