In Willliam Shakespeare’s play, “Romeo and Juliet,” the main theme is the long, hard battle about the love between each other and the hate that their parents have between their families. The Capulet and Montague families have been in a feud for an extremely long time, but that doesn’t stop Romeo Montague from crashing the Capulet’s party where he meets Juliet Capulet. Romeo and Juliet have a case of love at first sight and they get married on the next day by Friar Lawrence in secret, however right after they get married a fight breaks out in the courtyard where Tybalt kills Mercutio, and then Romeo kills Tybalt. All of these fights and deaths lead up to Juliet faking her death and Romeo and Juliet commiting suicide at the end of the play. When Romeo asks the Friar to marry him and Juliet together he agrees because he thinks that it may bring an end to the feud between their families, but he is also shocked that Romeo has gotten over Rosaline so quickly. For example, Romeo comes running in to talk to Friar Lawrence saying, “I love rich Capulet's daughter. I love her and she loves me. We’re bound to each other in every possible way, except we need you to marry us” ( Act 2, Scene 3, Lines 57-59). This quote shows us that Romeo has truly gotten over Rosaline and moved on to Juliet.
