Informal Brag Sheet/Personal Statement I have always driven myself to assist people throughout different roles since early adulthood which has led to many leadership opportunities that have prepared me for a career in medicine and science. A career in which I can engage, problem-solve, advocate, and lead change to aid people. These are skills I have been able to develop and practice throughout different stages of life and improve with my educational background. I prided myself on my ability to multitask and engage in different activities. This has helped with navigating and adapting to different environments without losing motivation, such as studying and working while being able to engage and plan for other extracurricular activities.
What interests you about your selected program of study? Computer science has always been the aspect of study that has grabbed my attention from a young age. CS always created a sense of awe in me because of the fact that individual people, with a firm understanding of CS, could completely manipulate technology into whatever creation they wanted. In the same way an artist can paint on a canvas, computer scientist can create through code and each program carries a sense of the programmer with it. The more you learn about CS the more uses it gains, making it a tool that builds upon itself.
I stand out because I am invested in my future. For the past few years I have dedicated myself to my future career by taking the most difficult classes that my school has to offer. This has helped me be a better student as I have some knowledge of the classes I will be taking in college. I am an independent, organized person as I am able to juggle my classes, extracurriculars, and other activities. Another way that I am unique is my ability to take charge in a situation.
Since beginning my search for the right college, I have had to ask myself these similar questions to help me decide what school will be the best fit for me and allow me to take in the full college experience. It was simple to become interested in Eau Claire because of the positive recommendations from people in my life and because of the location, which I found intriguing. I spoke to many alumni who articulated the positive aspects offered by Eau Claire and encouraged me to consider it as a great option for my future education. Knowing people who have graduated and who are currently attending Eau Claire makes it easier to feel more secure in my decision to apply and envision myself becoming a Blugold. Ever since I was an infant, I have held a special interest in music. This love for music has strengthened over the years; and in sixth grade, it became plain to me that I would be a musician. However, I have always held somewhat of an affinity for writing. I am the second child of two, but my sister is twenty-five years older than I, and I was raised as an only child would be. I want to be a lawyer, and I want to start off by going to DMACC for a start. After i’m done at DMACC I either want to attend Drake University or the University of Iowa for law school “No one has ever become poor by giving (Anne Frank). ” I like this quote because Anne Frank is saying that you should give it’s not going to hurt you any but it is going to help the others more than you think. One way that I plan on giving back to the community is through various charities, but one is doing pro bono cases as a lawyer.
What would you say is your greatest talent or skill is?How have you developed and demonstrated that talent over time. A talent that I have is working and riding motorcycles. Over the past 12 years motorcycles have caught my attention. At the age 5 I got my very first motorcycle It feels like if it was yesterday but ever since I first rode the motorcycle It is as if I am addicted to adrenaline.
Life as well as technology is constantly changing. It is my belief that in order to be successful in all of the phases in life, I must have courage and be strong. I understand the need to invest my time in things that will help me to develop an efficient way in complete my daily tasks in this new venture. What am I going to bring to the table? My courage, knowing that when I finish my new journey I will be able to serve better at my work, community, and Country.
At Rice, I would share my passion for creating new technology, and the experience I have had in project management and development. Having attended several coding competitions, I know what it takes to make an app or website in only 24 hours. Being surrounded by advanced coders in my high school, I have learned from them the nuances of programming languages like JavaScript and Swift, and hope to share my knowledge with future Owls. As the VP of the Web and App Club, I was a leader of a project to create an app for the Interact Club at my high school. Through collaboration and teamwork, I, along with several other members, were able to complete the Interact App by the beginning of the school year.
Throughout my life I experience many situations and many talents that I grew among over the years. During my childhood, I learned how to Hmong dance, sewing Hmong clothes, learned about my religion, interact with my family and I especially enjoyed making beads bracelets. Not only that, but I am began interesting different cultures as well. Because different cultures are unique and fascinating to learn and to know about. I experience a life as a fatherless child ever since in fifth grade.
At the University of Colorado in Boulder, there are many opportunities for each student. While attending a bigger school can have its difficulties, there are many ways that students can succeed. Because everyone learns differently, some ways of teaching are more effective than others. Furthermore, students can improve learning a subject from teachers and peers. I believe that CU Boulder will provide me with the right skills and knowledge to effectively pursue my future career.
Statement of Personal Achievements It was the end of my junior year of high school that I decided to immigrate to the United States. I was motivated to come to America from Hong Kong for my education. I also aimed to broaden my perspective on life. As a new immigrant and young adult, my life completely changed within these two years.
