chose me and that I was able to pass all His tests. God helped create my blueprint, a design that foundation will not crumble or burned, hence I am solid. I understand why the casualties had to happen. Moreover, because of my trials I am even more faithful, obedient, resilient, and compassionate towards others. Without the trials, how would one, know how to behavior and react in the times of despair.
I'm a sophomore and I plan to learn Spanish in a different country where I can apply skills from the classroom at Northern Illinois University. I have taken FLSP 102 through FLSP 211, and currently taking FLSP 311 and 320. I am applying because I interested in seeing what the world has to offer. Not many people are able to study abroad because of the expensive cost, but having aid to assist me with means a great deal by not having to worry about paying loans back in the future. I am majoring in Spanish and would like to study abroad because I think that being immersed in another culture and country can enhance my experience for when I become a teacher.
The 21st century is a generation of medical miracles. Continual advancements in medicine have created a world where few diseases, ailments, or problems are beyond the reach of medical scientists. With a growing body of research to build upon, the understanding of medicines and their impact on disease is a field full of potential and possibilities. I am pursuing a career as a pharmaceutical scientist to help the world become a better place Serving others has always been a priority in my life, but early on I learned that open wounds and emergency-room style injuries did not sit well with my personality.
Ever since I was a little girl I have always known what I wanted to do with my life. I wanted to help people and make the world a better place. Growing up the daughter of a pastor, my parents taught me what it meant to serve. Not in an oppressive way, but in a way, that ironically liberated me. Through them and my relationship with God, I was able to realize that servitude is not about submitting yourself to the will of others, but being an example of what Jesus Christ, himself came to do.
The future is impossible to predict, but ways exist to promote traveling towards the desired destination. My own future may not have a guaranteed road to success but I have a plan and goals which together will be the North Star guiding me to achieving my dreams. My desired and planned occupation is to become a pharmacist because I want to help people ensure they do not find themselves hurt by the treasure of medicine and instead can be healed and strengthened by its use. Pharmacy is a field in which I will be able to use math and science to aid in promoting well-being in others' lives.
After completing my bachelor’s degree, I joined Teach for America (TFA) to actively contribute to the fight for educational equity. TFA gave me the opportunity to teach youth from underserved and marginalized populations. I have taught many different types of students of various ethnicities as well as those who suffer from poverty, single-parent households, learning disabilities, behavioral issues, and more. To my surprise, I ended up loving the school environment and finding my passion for enriching the lives of our youth, specifically at-risk youth. Being an advocate for my students was a top priority, and being a liaison between parents, students, and administration is something I had become accustomed to.
In current role I am required to provide support to the International Operations unit and the Business School’s leadership team. This required me to have oversight of the financial administration of the school. Checking and logging all additional payment and salary requests as well and ensuring the payroll and finance deadlines where kept to.
As a native Cuban, I always appreciate medicine very much. I was limited myself to good healthcare access because my prior country’s healthcare system was not advanced, it had limited resources was not organized in a fair way. In this situation, I realized I needed to learn medicine myself and be in a position to take care of my loved ones and also help as many needed people as I could so I became a doctor. This passion for medicine has continued my whole life, and that is why in this country I am pursuing a career as a nurse.
Like most other students, hoping to complete their degree within the College of Education, the reason I have chosen to become an educator is to equip younger generations with a plethora of information, to help them succeed. However, unlike some education students, I have been closely involved, and have had firsthand experience in the field already, as only a sophomore. For example, I began in the education field when I was only a freshman in high-school, by teaching first through fifth-grade students in Sunday School, and I continued to this for four consecutive years, as a volunteer, after. In addition, I spend an entire summer, two years ago, dedicating my talents to St. Paul’s Muskego’s Summer-Care program, in which we taught, played-with, instilled constructive discipline, and catered to each child’s individual needs, even though there were close to twenty-five children every day and only a few of us, teachers.
Merriam-Webster defines health as the condition of being well or free from disease, the overall condition on someone’s body of mind, or the condition or state of something. Fitness is defined as the quality or state of being fit. I perceive the concepts of health and fitness as meaning eating healthy, being active and staying fit. My normal daily activities and routines help keep me active and fit and require me to eat healthy in order to have the energy to complete the physical tasks. This year I elected to enroll in the health and fitness project for the first time.
Dealing with an experience which has transform my life has made my future unclear. It has been very difficult to stay focused and remain hopeful in such a difficult time. Through my challenging period, there is one memory which keeps my faith solid. My finest football performance in high school still gives me hope through my roughest times. This game showed me what I am capable of, provides me a reason to not to quit, and present a purpose as why I compete with myself.
