Why do you want to remain in the Galipatia Community? (150) Personally, my time in Galipatia has opened many doors and offered plentiful opportunities in the little time I’ve been part of the community. Should even a percentage of the helpfulness I receive to carry over to my sophomore year, my expectations for Galipatia would be surpassed. From a professional development standpoint, this would be all of the expectations I had for Galileo, but factoring the social and academic benefits, Galileo offers a medley of benefits to all constituents. Being a part of this community for another full year of school allows me to reap the rewards of a living-learning community. (150) Perfect attendance for any busy college student serves as one of the major challenges faced. Balancing the classes, homework, and extracurricular activities of Freshman year put any student in stressful situation. As a mentor, meeting the individual needs of the mentee group, especially with such a small group, should be a priority for the mentor. During my time as a mentee, the scheduling was the foremost problem with the sessions, each time with more issues than the last, almost never settling on a finalized time prior. Besides addressing the problems that I personally experienced, exciting my mentees involves knowing each individually. Without talking to them, I can only use inferences based on the other students I know. A few incentives that everyone wants are food, games, or socializing. It would be fun to host either a weekly academic support event or a video game we can play as a group.
