Sometimes, women are not given the chance to make more money because employers think that men are stronger, smarter, or more experienced or skilled (Gender Differences 84). This obviously means that women do not get a fair chance to get higher paying jobs in some cases. However, women know how to fight and try to make things right. An example of this is in the article “Understanding the ‘‘Family Gap’’ in Pay for Women with Children”. Jane Waldfogel states that if women had “not increased their investments in education and experience, the gender pay gap would have widened in the 1980s simply due to the changes in the overall wage structure” (140).
Canadian women earned 87 cents to every dollar made by men in 2015, according to Statistics Canada in a statement released on International Women’s Day. This statement was released to show how today’s wage gap has improved compared to the 77 cents women made to every man’s dollar in 1981 (CBC News). It’s meant to represent an improvement and is supposed to be a good thing, yet it is not. Why? Because this statistic should not even exist in the first place.

The gender wage gap is outrageous. That gap is still significantly large in America, despite efforts that have been going on for decades to eliminate it. Women simply receive substantially less than men in this country. They are being discriminated against, and there is so much evidence to prove this. We cannot let them dismiss the evidence any longer.
From birth, men and women were born equal to one another. Both genders have the ability to share the same opportunities, and achieve whatever desires they choose in life. The gender gap has been a reoccurring concern since the beginning of the hospitality work sphere. This paper proves the impact different political regimes played on the Gender Gap within Eastern Europe. In the completion of my paper seven academic journals were analyzed including different reports. This paper indicates what kind of regimes helped to eliminate the glass ceiling, the significance of the female gender within the working environment and reviews different kind of legislatives that aim at bringing women and men as equals within the work force. In addition different aspects that clouded the glass ceiling in the hospitality working environment in Eastern Europe are reviewed.
Discrimination towards women in the workplace is a serious problem today, though many seem to look at it with a blind eye. Discrimination in the workplace can come in many forms; 2 of them being the pay gap and sexual harassment. While many view the pay gap and sexual harassment as a serious problem, others blame the pay gap on women’s lack of ambition and sexual harassment on the way women dress. It is important that we stand up for woman and try to stop discrimination towards them in the workplace.
