The 6 December 1945 letter from General Henry H Arnold to General Carl A “Tooey” Spaatz influenced greatly aspects of my leadership philosophy because of the relevancy of the correspondence in today’s Scientific Innovations, Staffing, and my perspective on discipline as a leader in the Air Force. Leadership is the process of influencing people by providing purpose, direction, and motivation to accomplish the mission and improve the organization. My profound leadership philosophy is to leave a positive legacy to the future generation and this was clearly exhibited in the memorandum of the great General of the United States Air Force formerly referred to as Army Air Force. To this effect, scientific development, Staff selection, and discipline espoused in the General’s letter will be discussed briefly.

An efficient staff understands the goal and objectives of the group and is prepared to go the extra mile for the attainment of the set goals. Understanding the personality types help in a great deal in identifying suitable staffs for specific jobs. My understanding of the lecture on Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) helped to appreciate the various combinations of perspectives on personality and knowing myself. This perspective on personality types recognizes that each individual is unique but suggests that there are some broad psychological preferences that may help explain typical patterns of behavior. It reveals how individuals become accomplished at particular ways of doing things. The MBTI will allow me as a middle-level Staff Officer to appreciate diversity whilst working across cultural barriers in an increasing miniature-global stage of leading.
