Introduction
A business functions like a system. A system must have all components working and working together in order to function properly. In order for a system to function properly each part must function to is maximum level. Motivation plays a key role in the system. A number of factors can effect motivation and their can be consequences depending on the level of motivation.
Chosen Organization The organization that I have chosen is the company that I currently work for, The Geo Group. I chose the company I work for due to the fact that I would like a better understanding of how the company is organized. The Geo Group is a private contracting company that contracts out jails, prisons and special service institutions for government agencies …show more content…

The system can be open or closed. The Geo Group is an open system. For the Geo Group the input would be money, employees and those under supervision. The processing of the input would be funding the jails and prisons that it operates, the employees who supervise those under their care, and trying to rehabilitate those under their care. Some internal consquences of low job motivation include poor performance, dissatisfaction, and decreased revenue. When an individual lacks job motivation their performance can suffer. The individual may not complete all job tasks that are required of them. This can lead to other employees having to step in and complete the tasks not being completed. Dissatisfaction can lead to other employees feeling dissatisfied. Decreased revenue comes from lack of productivity from the individual who has low job motivation. An internal consequence of low job motivation in relation to The Geo Group is employee accidents. Low motivation can lead to careless in the workplace. Unfortunately for The Geo Group, a higher number of reported staff assults that may or may not have been caused by carelessness led to the Attorney General wanting to shut down all privately run jails and prisons. This lead to a loss of job and low employee morale all over the country including the facility I worked
