In order to enact powerful change on the world, one must be a leader. They must be able to gain support for their cause and organize the people who want to help. To do this, a leader must be charismatic, smart, and a quick thinker. Furthermore, in order to make a true difference, one must be kind, outspoken, organized, and full of willpower. I’d like to think that I am already organized and outspoken; I often try to notice the problems in our society, and try to think of ways to solve them. I also have already had experience in gaining help and organizing volunteers in order to create a change. For my Girl Scout Gold Award, I had to use my communication skills in order to recruit help, gain supplies, and reach out to those in need. Nevertheless, I’m not the most experience. I’m not the best at thinking on my feet in times of crisis. Neither am I the most charismatic or the one with an iron will. Girl Scouts helps girls gain confidence and develop skills that will help them in life. Yes, it teaches girls skills like cooking and sewing, but it helps girls learn business skills and encourages them to pursue math and science. It teaches girls that they can make a change in the world by pushing them to create and carry out service projects on their own. It encourages girls to be leaders and to challenge those who simply call strong girls bossy. Furthermore, Girls Scouts encourages diversity. It accepts girls of all faiths and ethnicities.
