What steps would you take if you knew the human population is the major cause of global warming on this planet? The phrase “Global warming” means the global-average temperature increase that has been monitored over the last hundred years or more. Many say that it’s something natural that happens on our planet, but many believe otherwise. Although the earth’s natural cycle plays a huge part in global warming, people around the world certainly aren’t helping. But many politicians and the public believe with all the evidence shown that mankind is responsible for the warming.
The earth’s atmosphere consists of natural greenhouse gases like water vapor, carbon dioxide, and methane, which keeps the lower layers of the atmosphere warm. Greenhouse gases trap the infrared radiation — the radiant heat energy that the Earth releases into space in return to solar heating. “In 2005, burning fossil fuels sent about 27 billion tons of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere” (Climate Change caused by humans, section 13). According to the World Carfree Network, cars and trucks can account for about 14 percent of entire world's carbon emissions. “In total, the world's forests and forest soils currently store more than one trillion tons of carbon - twice the amount found floating free in the atmosphere” (Climate Change caused by humans, section 11). The reason that logging is so bad for the climate is that when trees fall they release the carbon they are storing in them into the air where it blends with greenhouse gases and in return increases global warming.
