I first started my academic path with the University of Wisconsin, Madison during the Summer of 2016. I had applied to the Science Research Internship Program (SRI) through MMSD to be appointed as an intern in a lab. Once there, I was welcomed into an environment that I developed a connection to. I was able to be a part of the undergraduate research in the Mechanical Engineering department focused on additive manufacturing, specifically Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) and the optimization of the variables. Throughout the experience I was able to put UW - Madison into the perspective of a student, since then it has been a goal of mine to attend and further my education there. This experience and a multitude of other factors have substantially inspired me to apply to the University of Wisconsin in Madison because it will provide me with the academic, recreational, and personal foundation to meet my goals. …show more content…
Considering that I am looking to major in Polymer Engineering, it would be best to attend a school with an expansive focus on polymer that cannot compare to any other school. Not to mention the expansive polymer labs for research and the three Dimensional printers I had become familiar with. As a student, with thirty six libraries and fifty study rooms, there is no doubt that this campus would provide plenty of resources for my college career. I've also had the honor to become acquaintances with the undergraduates also at the research lab. Professor Tim Osswald was extremely gracious in accepting his lab’s first intern without knowledge of how well the experience would go. Since then, a goal of mine has been to continue the work I began in
