6-Week Group Counseling Plan for Elementary Students In this paper, I will mention about the group plan that I want to develop and apply for elementary students in schools especially with have behavior problem that prevent learning of others to increase their well-being. It will be wellness-based program and I will not be separate it into parts. As I mentioned above, I will develop a plan for elementary school students especially students with problematic behavior to increase their well-being and it would be more rational because I believe that helping member in this age group to know themselves and regulate their emotions is more helpful to determine what they want to do and they will do in the future in healthier way. According to Holcomb-McCoy (2005) children’s wellness begin in childhood when their self-care and habits begin forming. These habits may affect their adolescence period and accordingly rest of their life. It can be in a good or bad way. Because of that, providing them wellness tools like knowing their self as a whole, coping…etc. may help them to develop strategies for problem related to social interaction, academic, and emotions. The name of this model is “The Invisible Self Wellness Model”, “IS-WEL”. It is a strength-based wellness model. (Myers & Sweeney, 2004). They created this model with including five factors and they referred to Total Wellness. These five factors are the creative self, the coping self, the social self, the essential self and the physical self. Some researchers applied IS-WEL model in school and they talked about its positive effect on students. For instance, Villalba and Myers (2008) applied this model during three week with fifth grade students. They reported that there was positive increasing on students’ total wellness, creative self, social self and physical self. There are also different models that were used in group counseling in schools with elementary school that affect their wellness in a positive way. For example, Smith-Adcock et al. (2008) and Omizo et al. (1992) stated that they see positive increasing students understanding of wellness and personal awareness that related to well-being while they conducting group counseling. Because of all that reason, I want to utilize wellness-based program for students to help them to increase their awareness and live more in appropriate and healthier way. For that, I choose the IS-WEL model to apply and get help this model. I think using this model will help me to go on a more programmatic way and it will be more
