I appreciate the invitation to think like a freak in regards to gun control. I want to address the big and smaller picture. I won’t necessarily say guns are the problem. My reason for that statement is places like Norway, Finland, Germany, France and Denmark all have heavy gun ownership and a history of low murder rates. Germany has one of the highest weapons-per-head rates in the world. There are roughly 5.5 million legal weapons were registered as being in the hands of 1.45 million private individuals. Germany’s police union estimates the number of illegal weapons in the country is considerably higher, around 20 million. In spite of that fact, they have one of the lowest gun homicide rates is one of the lowest in Europe. That being said, I will say there are evil people in the world, who were just born bad. But I feel the majority of crimes (i.e., break-ins) are committed out of circumstance. While I think gun control is merely putting a band-aid on a bullet wound, but we have to start somewhere. Small steps are necessary to heal the more significant problem we face in the US. In my opinion, the following are the factors contributing to the need for gun control.
• Minimizing Violence. We as a nation have made it perfectly okay to be violent, therefore in a sense; we have begun to put less value on human life. We don’t hold violent people accountable for their actions.
