Haiti Political Issues

Haiti is a country that has a very risky political environment. The country has been known to be beset with radical protests that have even turned violent. The environmental devastations have also had a substantial effect on Haiti’s political arena. “Perhaps the biggest challenge facing Haiti’s government is rebuilding the country in the aftermath of the devastating 2010 earthquake and reconciliation. Lack of transparency in the using foreign aid is also an important related issue and the prime cause of poverty and inequality” (bricefoundation.org). Haiti does have corruption and political unrest challenges that need to be rectified, but the country has taken important steps to call attention to those issues and address them head on. There have been several non-governmental organizations that are working to change the image of Haiti in hopes of boosting the economy and creating transparency in the government.
