As an Early Childhood Educator for ten years, I would like address this proposal, as a grant to finance the reduction of equity barrier in the Headstart Program. Our key focus is on solving the difficulties in accessing quality, such as a way to involve children and families in every aspect to equity of care and education. In the United States there are high quality programs, where a family can qualify by income at no cost, such as Headstart, however, there are still some children without services (Laureate Education Inc., 2011). In our society, many immigrant families often are unaware of the availability of early education program and services (Matthew & Ewen, 2010). Some families cannot afford a full cost of quality care, who are not poor enough, and there are some who are not rich enough” (Laureate Education, Inc. 2011). I believe that all children regardless of diversity should have access to productive program that consist of: trained, qualified staff and an age appropriate curriculum. The centre would be focusing on three key solutions. First, the Centre is set to raise a campaign that will aim to increase early education funding streams and child care programs to enhance access for immigrants and minority families. Therefore, there will be more programs and funding streams that will cover more children, especially immigrants’ Secondly, our Centre will set a rural-based child care setting that will offer support to the families in regards to cost, language barriers, and transportation to serve the language-minority families who may have difficulties in accessing quality programs as well.
