As healthcare jobs are built in and around people and community with diversity, there will be a plenty of need to address several issues that are not solely based on clinical relevance but that deal with emotions and personal interactions. As a Physician, I need to interact with a variety of people with different problems and react differently to different circumstances, so it is my responsibility to make them comfortable and provide them the confidence to trust me and confide in me to solve their problems.
Professionalism and Discipline. Lack of self-discipline and respect for others is not an option to survive in the healthcare sector. Many of the tasks I deal with both as a physician and business analyst are time-based and interdependent on others work too. I believe that to be an effective communicator one must listen to others first. I first try to evaluate the context in which I am trying to communicate and consider several factors like type of audience, the relationship level with them, educational background and their level of interest to the topic in context and I try to frame my message and language to reach them effectively. Another strategy I use is to avoid distractions while communicating like checking my phone or not maintaining an eye contact or choosing a bad place to talk. Open communication and receiving feedback are key strengths to any physician. Patients would be comfortable to open up and discuss their problems with me because of my open-ended questions. I use this strategy of open-ended questioning even in meetings at my current workplace so that I get more resourceful answers rather than a shortcut explanation for my
