Introduction This report is based on the safety and health checklist of Home Depot Clovis. The checklist was conducted through their regulations and rules, as they are an OSHA certified company. This report also includes various questions that me and my partner directed at home depot employees, to get a better understanding of the safety regulations of the home improvement giant.

Bigger items or bulk items are stored in the back of the store where employees only can access them. Home depot stores are generally very spacious, as each aisle has storage space overhead, with a height of 30ft from the floor to the ceiling. This space allows the storage of extra inventory or larger items, e.g. I needed to get some shelves for a pantry cupboard, and the plywood of correct thickness that I had in mind to use was ‘in storage’. Eight such exits are available in each store, which directly lead to the parking lot, which is the rendezvous point. This store requires employees to always wear gloves and to always have a pair of safety glasses on them always, so that they can attend to customers who need custom cuts/shaping on various materials, for example pipes, timber, and tubes. Safety inspection happens every morning on the premises by supervisors. Each aisle is inspected, especially the bolts holding the shelves and the piles together, as well as any hanging items or spills. Once the inspection is cleared, and all safety checks run through with no problems, the store is opened to the public. The employees benefit from the safety code at Home Depot, meaning they are rewarded by the head office if the store passes 50 days without any accidents, and the reward amounts to about $500 to the store. In this way the employees are encouraged to follow the appropriate safety codes and regulations, so it’s a win-win situation. The store is kept accident free, and the employees are kept safe.
