7.1 Analyse ways in which minimum core elements can be demonstrated in planning, delivering and assessing inclusive teaching and learning. To analyse ways in which the minimum core elements can be demonstrated in planning, delivering and assessing inclusive teaching and learning, I must have an understanding and working knowledge of the four elements. The four elements are literacy, language, numeracy and Information and Communications Technology (ICT). Literacy takes first place and in many respects is primary in the list of core elements, as without basic literacy skills, learners will struggle to engage with subjects across the entire curriculum, (Department for Education, 2022). The government mandate in England and Wales is for every student to study some form of English and Maths until the age of 18, ensuring that fewer learners leave school without achieving the basics of literacy and numeracy, (Department for Education, 2023). In regards to my planning, I complete a planning document for all of my units in a document called ‘unit/lesson planner’. The document details the unit title, incorporates individual lesson learning objectives, learner activities, differentiation, assessment methods and resources. At times, I expect that they will know what to do but without my explaining my lesson content, delivery method and what the work is that I set the learners. I must remember that support staff aren’t qualified teachers but work alongside learners to help support their learning (Tassiker, 2019). If I put myself in their shoes, I would want to know the content of the lesson I was supporting and how best I could support the learners.
