Teachers are one of the important person in a child’s life they will need show them how the outside world works and the instruments needed to be successful once they graduate and further their education. In the article “A New Deal for Teachers” by Matthew Miller, he states that the quality and shortage of teachers in communities where the system is not great will have an impact on our future generation. We must find some ways to improve the system and Miller gives two examples of this.I agree with Millers plan because teachers are able to provide the skills needed to help the children succeed but with the shortage of teachers many won’t get the right education. Millers solution is to upgrade the skills of those who been teaching for a long time but at the same time helping the new teachers who don’t have the experience. Many teachers don’t mind being paid the minimum salary because they only thing that matters is the future of the students but that is not always true, after they have teached for a while the pay is not worth it. Mnay teachers do stay in the same school for years but other moved away because at other school distrct the pay its much higer. They have to think about their retirement so it is not fair to get paid the same amount as someone who is starting off as new. In junior high their was always a shortage of teachers because the school distcit could offord to keep them. They would hire substitute teachers to teach but also will have other teachers from different subject to terach the classroom. This had a big impact when state testing came because we weren’t beign taught the right way but based on the material of the
