World Religion, yay or nay. There are many reasons as to why religion should be taught in school. It has been shown in the past that not having an education can lead to horrible mishaps. In the New York Times it says that “Hate crimes against American Muslims have soared to their highest levels since the aftermath of the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks”. While it is understandable to have fear after that horrible event it isn’t right for innocent civilians who practice that same religion, or a religion, that from a different perspective looks alike, to be affected.

In a study taken by Pew Research Center: Religion & Public Life, Mormons and Evangelicals know most about Christianity while Atheists and Agnostics, and Jews know more about world religion. In this study religious groups took a survey to see what religious groups ranked best in what categories. While it is not scientifically proven that religion can help with education it can be speculated to be helpful. It can also have a positive aspect that it broadens the knowledge of the world around the person. There was actually a scandal that involved Americans who visited Japan. While there they disrespected the customs and culture of that place. It caused a strain and left a bad impression on the people of japan concerning Americans. Many people outside of America have stereotyped it as the country of insensitive and uncultured people. Their thoughts only being proven as they see news of Americans being ignorant to other cultures and religions. Understanding other cultures can improve reputations as it is likely that less misunderstanding or culturally inappropriate actions will
