(1)The whole world watched as Martin Luther King Jr. spoke during the March on Washington. (1)This happened because a man was an involved activist and helped set it up. (1)Bayard Rustin made the March the Washington and so many other protests possible . (1)John F. Kennedy didn’t originally support civil but changed his mind over time. Then Nelson Mandela inspired the United States Civil Rights. So John F. Kennedy, Bayard Rustin, Nelson Mandela are the leaders talked about now.
John F. Kennedy didn’t support the civil rights movement, but he planted the seeds for the civil Rights Act of 1964. When Martin Luther King Jr. was arrested, he called Coretta Scott King because he concerned about the family. With Kennedy’s Public affection to the family …show more content…

He was a leading activist during the Civil Rights Movement between 1947-1955 along with helping with freedom rides. Then he was the strategist for the movement from 1955 to 1968. Finally, he became the chief organizer in 1963 for the March on Washington. For being an involved activist, he was moved up the ranks.
My last person is Nelson Mandela. He was actively involved Anti-apartheid movement who joined the African National Congress or ANC in 1942. The ANC Youth League wanted to transform the ANC movement. Having the ANC protest politely was ineffective. Soon in 1949 the ANC accepted the Youth Leagues form of protest and started a boycott. They went on to more strikes and boycotts and went to jail for their freedom.
Thinking about the ANC makes me wonder “If I were alive then why wouldn't I let them lead me to freedom?” John F. Kennedy makes me notice that when boycotters and strikers go to jail that somebody somewhere needs to care. Then finally Bayard Rustin was an active activist that helped behind the scenes as well as leading protest like the March on Washington. Now would you fight for your rights knowing what they went
