“In a world filled with hate, we must dare to hope. In a world filled with anger, we must dare to comfort. In a world filled with despair, we must still dare to dream. And, in a world filled with distrust, we must still dare to believe.” - Michael Jackson, 1958-2009. Michael Jackson was a singer and dancer who was an inspiration and an idol to many people. Michael Jackson was a very impactful leader because of his trendsetting dancing and distinctive style. Michael Joseph Jackson, also referred to as “King Of Pop”, was born August 29, 1958, in Gary, Indiana. He was the fifth of nine children. One of these reasons is because of his trendsetting dancing. For example, in the article “Pop-Music stars” it states “The real news was Jackson's high-tech pop music and flashy dance moves, which prompted dance legend Fred Astaire to exclaim, "My lord, he's a wonderful mover." Jackson's "moonwalk" number on the Motown Twentieth Anniversary television special in 1983 stopped hearts and traffic” (“Pop-Music Stars”, 2001, p. 3). This quote shows that he had an impact on the whole dancing industry, when it states that another famous dancer was reaching out and telling us how talented of a dancer Jackson was. (“Pop-Music Stars”, 2001, p. 1-5). Another reason why Jackson was impactful is because of his unique style. For instance, in the article “Michael Joseph Jackson” it says “Through his record albums and music videos he created an image imitated by his millions of fans, whose style of dressing and dancing was instantly recognizable all over the world” (“Michael Joseph Jackson”, 1998, p.2).
