Did you know that many of the achievements in American history were founded on the sacrifices and drive of the African American community? The African American community has endured many hardships but has never given up fighting for their equality and freedom. Their contributions not only affected their community directly, but advanced the rights of others as well. Important American figures such as Harriet Tubman, Martin Luther King, and Mother Jones impacted by making a better community in their environment in helpful ways. Some of these include: Fighting For Civil Rights, Helping for freedom, and Helping to end child labor. She was a big help because she saw how children were being treated at factories and she decided to take action by doing protests with the children. Mother Jones had seen how dangerous their jobs were. Philadelphia's famous Liberty Bell, currently on a national tour and drawing huge crowds, gave her an idea. She and the textile union leaders staged their tour. Mother Jones drew on what she did best, speaking to gather support for her cause. One reporter wrote, "Mother Jones makes other speakers sound like tin cans." On July 15, Mother Jones wrote a letter to President Roosevelt."
