The Hindu religion originated near the Indus River, and Indus Valley Civilization around 1500 BC. After the Indo- European people invaded India, their religion and cultures stuck.
It is impossible to trace the Hindu religion back to one founder. Instead, it has many contributors to this complex faith. The first contributor is the, Indus River civilization. These people have given many important things to the faith. For example, the idea of reincarnation, the Law of Karma, and Fertility god - Shiva. A more minor contribution came from the Dravidians. These people came right after the Indus Civilization, and also mirrored many of their religious aspects. The next people to contribute were, the Aryans. The Law of Karma is the belief that every person's thoughts or actions are later, at some point, followed with punishment or delight. This belief is a very large part of the Hindu religion, and many thing revolve around this idea. Even though the Law of Karma is a big deal there many other things that the Hindus believe in, such as reincarnation.
Reincarnation is the belief that a deceased person's soul will transfer into another physical body, after a certain time period. Shiva was another adopted idea. Shiva is a part of the Hindu Trinity, and the destroyer of everything. Just like most religions there is verbal scriptures, and written scriptures. In this faith the verbal stories are called, the Shruti. The Shruti is a several part scripture that contains stories that have been heard, and then later on written down. The oldest part of the Shruti is the Vedas. The Vedas, is then divided into four different parts: Rig-Veda, Sama-Veda, Yajur-Veda, Atharva-Veda. Besides the Shruti, the Upanishads and Brahmanas are the other scriptures.
