The main character is Luke. The side characters of this book are Trey, Nina, Percy, Mathias, Mr.Talbot, The Grants, and Smits. Luke is a very scared person in the beginning but turns out to be a brave person. In my opinion, Luke was always a brave person, but he just didn’t know that. He always did dangerous things like sneaking out which could’ve got him killed!

My character is Doodle from “The Scarlet Ibis.” I feel as if he has these three traits within him. They are Crazy, Motivated, and Trusting. I say he is crazy because in the very start of the story Big Brother says “Doodle was just about the craziest brother a boy ever had.”
Character trait: One trait that the protagonist displays is ‘frustration’, an example from the short story would be: “It was not deep, he wetted himself halfway to the knees” The chechaquo was planning on arriving at the camp on time for the boys at 6:00, he had it all planned out, but when he stepped into the frozen river and wetted his feet, that would mean he would have to build a new fire and wait until his feet were dry and safe to walk with, that would take a lot of time and make him late to the camp. He ‘cursed’ out loud to himself after that, which clearly says that he is indeed frustrated.
The book Unwind by Neil Shusterman has many twists and turns with its complex characters. For example Risa, the main female protagonist displays many emotions and actions throughout the book. The author shows Risa’s characterization in an indirect way which I feel helps the reader get to know the character on a more understanding level. Two of those indirect characterizations really stood out to me; she was caring and adaptive in all situations.
