Advertisements and announcements are all over us today and it’s interesting to see how that has changed over the time and how now it’s such a big marketing asset every big corporations and business needs in order to be successful. Advertisements are seen everywhere now from billboards to advertisements on television to advertisements online and in YouTube videos which before was not even unheard of. Times have change and so has the way people advertise something. There are still very similar things that are still being done that was done before advertisement was a huge thing. This is mentioned in our art book chapter 9, the author states that “the development of color lithography in 1870 allowed for more—and more captivating—images to be pasted on every available surface. Wooden billboards (“boards for posting bills”) were erected along railroad lines, bringing advertising messages to train passengers. Circuses and theaters used posters extensively, their entertainment images becoming the ancestors of later film posters” (Brown, pg 2). The very similar thing occurs today when we drive down a freeway and we see big billboards either announcing a movie, food, clothing, electronics, etc. This strategy remains the same, the influences during that era still affect the advertising now and some of those new ideas that advertisers used around that time still
