Throughout history, there have been many people who have impacted American Culture. Some of these people have been Martin Luther King, Johann Gutenberg, and Thomas Edison. They all contributed to American Culture in their way whether it was standing up for rights or inventing the light bulb they all impacted American Culture. Another person that has influence American Culture was Henry Ford. Ford was a well-respected man during his lifetime and still is to this day. He greatly influenced the automobile and its production. Henry Ford was not the type of man to be afraid of taking risks causing him to take many risks within his automobile career. This risk, however, leads to his many achievements in life. (“Henry Ford.” Pop Culture) He was born into a well known farming family, being in a farming family was difficult for Ford as he was not able to feed his hunger for his love of machinery. His father detested Henry’s interest in engineering although Henry's mother encouraged it, however over time his father began to accept his interest. To satisfy his love for engineering he would tinker with small things like watches and small steam engines. In his free time, on his own, Ford was able to create a working gasoline-powered engine and many small vehicles. When he was a teenager he received his first internship. Although he learned many things from the company he left after a few years in hopes of pursuing his engineering and automobile dream further. In 1899 he founded his first automobile manufacturing enterprise. Ford formed this company in hopes of producing a car that would be affordable to the common man. The company Ford founded was named the Ford Motor Company, the name is still used today. He was popular with citizens because he had a folky persona that the people could relate to. Henry was different than other company owners and was not only a wealthy industrialist. “He ran the company as a family business, and stuck to his low-price, high-volume business philosophy.” (“Henry Ford’s Business Philosophy.”) Henry Ford accomplished many things in his life that lead to him affecting American Culture.
