When I think of the word leadership I think of someone who takes charge of a certain group large or small. The group usually depends on that one person to trust and follow. For example a leader can be someone who leads their squad to safety or a general leading a battalion into battle. Being a leader can be a tough job, having to make the tough decisions and making sure they look out for everyone not just themselves. When a person decides to be the leader of a group it’s their responsibility make sure to stand out and guide the group into the right direction to be able to succeed at their job or task. A shift lead is the person in charge of managing everything happening at the store for the period that I am on the clock working. I am in charge of a team of 4 to 7 personnel every time I am working. I first started to work at Starbucks once I graduated from high school last year. I know Starbucks isn’t anyone's dream job since It’s my first job it has to do for right now until I complete my degree. Even though it’s not my dream job as a shift lead I have to take it seriously and make sure my partners are doing their jobs and keeping every customers happy. As a shift lead, I am in charge of helping my team correctly complete their drinks, communicate with customers and make sure I deal with any issues at my store. Also as a shift lead I have the responsibility of handling the store’s money and making sure I am accurate or else it’s my fault. Part of my job is working with my partners and making sure their morale is always high. Anytime one of my partners has a question on how doing a task on their job I encourage them to always feel free to ask me anything, especially when it comes to taking a long order from a customer and their attitude. The hardest task I have when being in charge of my Starbucks squad is our daily rushes. I usually get the rush when students are just getting out of school or around the hours of 7-9pm when people go home and decide they would like to visit my store.
