Evaluation of Purpose Statement
Purpose statement describes the study research design, theory to be tested, intent of the study, variables involved, participants and the context of the problem (Burkholder, Cox & Crawford, 2016). The purpose of the journal reviewed was to investigate whether iPads allow children to write and draw with ease without a need for a pen and paper for a drawing activity in school. It was unclear that the purpose stated used signaling words but could be derived from the abstract. Additionally, although the title stated that the study is a quantitative comparison, the quantitative research design was not explicitly highlighted in the purpose statement. In a quantitative research, the elements such as specific measurement of variables and strategies for sampling would help in clearly answering the research question (Burkholder, Cox & Crawford, 2016). Moreover, the purpose statement would have been presented where the elements such research design is mentioned, which was quantitative comparison to test the usability of iPad in drawing in the classroom with using a pen and paper.
Analysis of Alignment among Theory, Problem and Purpose
The problem statement in this research is a growing number of schools embracing new technologies such as iPads with little or no prior empirical

By identifying problems inferred from the needs of a community such as schools and their students, researching possible solution, evidence-based decision making or developing policies to address issues affecting a community or the nation at large could bring social change. Social change refers to the shift in the attitudes and behavior that describes a society (Greenwood & Gunner, 2018). Researching a phenomenon can shift the way of thinking and doing thus, suggesting change or alternative thinking and eventually lead to social change (du Plessis,
