I have been very fortunate to attend a very competitive high school that has challenged me both academically and creatively. Hudson High School is a highly ranked high school in Ohio and they set expectations very high for their students. All of my teachers at each grade level have pushed me to strive for more and not to stay in my comfort zone. In eighth grade, I sat down and drafted my entire high school class schedule where I set academic goals, personal accomplishments, and musical achievements that would make me a well-rounded musician. I had decided I wanted to be a teacher and I wanted to get as much out of my high school experience as I could.
My freshman and sophomore years I took a complete honors class schedule. Although the homework load was intense, it tested my ability to manage my class and homework schedule with my extracurriculars. During this same period, I was a member of the Akron Youth Symphony (AYS), I received two private bass lessons each week, I performed with the Northeast Ohio Regional and the Ohio State Orchestras, I was a member of my high school pit orchestra, I volunteered to coach elementary school musicians, I was a member of my high school jazz band and jazz combo, I played various jazz and orchestra gigs around the Akron and Cleveland areas, I maintained a 3.76

In addition I also became a member of the National Honor Society, the Tri-M Music Honor Society, I performed as an accompanist with my high school swing choir, I started taking private voice lessons so that I could become a choral member in my senior year, I was a member of a local jazz band that played private and corporate paid gigs, I volunteered to perform at several non-school fundraisers, I continued my volunteering to mentor young musicians, I received my driver's license, and I was able to maintain a 3.75
