The program helped teachers to solve social problems of the high school students’ encounter while at home as well as at school. Chris Lilley emphasizes that the teachers may be the best people with positive changes, which helps the high school students to turn their dreams into reality. Fear and panic have encountered the teachers since the high school students are going backward instead of forward in terms of education. In essence, teachers have identified a number of challenges the high school students are undergoing which include; the transition
I am interested in becoming a TK assistant teacher at Providence Day School. I believe my pedagogical style reflects the Providence Day commitment to students, allowing students to be intellectual risk-takers within a community of supportive learners and educators. My life experiences and my enthusiasm will allow me to teach with compassion and understanding to help students achieve academic success while nurturing their social and emotional skills. I will be graduating from Queens University of Charlotte with a degree in Elementary Education on May 6, 2017. I am currently completing my student teaching in first-grade at Sharon Elementary School.
As the attached resume will highlight, I am currently a teacher at Air Academy High School, where I also serve as a literacy coach and a part of the 21st Century team. Through both of these experiences, I have been able to work closely with school administration to transform learning to meet the needs of the 21st century learner. While at Air Academy High School, I shadowed the Dean on many occasions to better prepare for managing the complexities of student disciplinary actions. My experiences in the classroom and as a leader in my building have equipped me with the innovative strategies to ensure that every students needs are met, whether academic, physical, or socio-emotional. I also have had the opportunity to work in several states
Hello! Welcome to the Jr. Honors Academy! We are so excited for an amazing year! My name is Crista Ponder, and I will be serving as the Jr. Honors Academy sponsor. I am the 8th-grade Science and Social Studies Teacher at Riverdale.
I look forward to helping students to develop a drive for personal academic excellence and a rich perspective on the world around them as they explore links between the individual, society, and the natural world. The potential of secondary geography is to stimulate an interest in the wider world through learning knowledge, both in and beyond the classroom, and acquiring geographical and transferable skills to last a lifetime. I am currently studying a broad-based geography degree ranging from economic to cultural geography, but also including staples of classroom geography including development, coastal processes and volcanology. My subject knowledge is strong and wide-ranging and aligned to both current GCSE and A-Level specifications and
I have been very fortunate to attend a very competitive high school that has challenged me both academically and creatively. Hudson High School is a highly ranked high school in Ohio and they set expectations very high for their students. All of my teachers at each grade level have pushed me to strive for more and not to stay in my comfort zone. In eighth grade, I sat down and drafted my entire high school class schedule where I set academic goals, personal accomplishments, and musical achievements that would make me a well-rounded musician. I had decided I wanted to be a teacher
The Melbourne Declaration commits ‘to supporting all young Australians to become successful learners, confident and creative individuals, and active and informed citizens’ The Australian Curriculum acknowledges the changing ways in which young people will learn in the 21st century and the challenges that will continue to shape students learning in the future. The curriculum is important in setting out what will be taught, what students need to learn and the expected quality of that learning. The commitment to develop a national curriculum reflects a willingness to work together, across geographical and school-sector boundaries, to provide a world-class education for all young Australians. Working nationally makes it possible to harness collective
Introduction Kennedy Road Middle School’s vision statement states: “We will empower all students to emerge as self-directed, future-ready learners within a caring community.” (Kennedy Road Middle School, 2017) While this may be the school's mental vision, it is certainly not an observable one. To walk through the hallways of this school, one can not only feel but observe the disdain a majority of the students have towards school. Students are tired and bored to the point where they no longer see education as a value.
Achieving good grades, excelling in sports, and accumulating an impressive list of extracurricular activities will play a great role in getting a student into the “right” school and will probably merit a helpful scholarship, or two. These are positive things as long as the activities were done for the right reason, which is to learn-- about oneself, about life after college, about what is important to the individual. However, many high school students are not doing these things for learning purposes, partly because they do not know yet what they want to do or who they are. Achieving for the sake of achievement can be counterproductive and might hinder the student from attending the school or pursuing the career that is really in line with long-term goals.
I want to be part of the yearbook staff for next year because I think that taking this class would improve my skills in many different fields, such as writing, grammar, design, speech, and social skills. Besides the academic aspects, I also feel that taking yearbook would allow me to socialize more and find out about different people and their interests. I feel that I can contribute to the success of next year’s book in many different ways. I’ve always loved to design things, write, and be social, so I knew taking yearbook would be the perfect class for me. Talking to people comes very naturally to me.
“We believe that students learn best in a supportive learning environment that caters for all students’ needs by building on the knowledge and skills that each student already possess.” (Laburnum Primary School, 2017). The Laburnum Primary School has a reputation for high academic achievement. As this is something they pride themselves on, they also take great care in catering for the individual needs of every student. The document discussed later on in this essay, outlines a student engagement and inclusion policy.
I have a unique background that would benefit the Gordonstoun Junior School, including my years of experience working with international students in the USA and Africa. As a Slovak immigrant, I had the opportunity to study, travel, and work in many countries. I have a Bachelor’s of Art (BA) degree in International Studies with a focus in European History and a Master of Science (MS) in Historic Preservation with all projects focused on European/International history and the historic environment. My passion for history and Scottish history in particular started while I was working toward my bachelor’s degree and continued to stay with me. Including my senior thesis projects focusing on the Scottish Highlands and Scottish Clans.
From childhood I was visualized myself of becoming a successful person. After completing my bachelor of commerce, my family wanted me to pursue my higher education from abroad. With my parent’s blessing and my hard work I managed to get enrolled in Master of Accounting and financial Management at one of the prestigious university, La Trobe University of Australia. I arrived in the new country, thousands of miles away from my loved one with hope and dreams in my eyes. La Trobe University produced an environment and offered support due to which I was able to successfully finish my master’s course.
I went to an international baccalaureate world school for elementary and middle school, St. Marys. The school is focused on developing well-rounded students who flourish in a creative environment. Their mission is dedicated to create academic excellence through inquiry-based learning. Through their strong critical thinking approach I was able to develop skills to meet the challenges that I face today.
The past four years of my life hold both my highest of highs and my lowest of lows. High school can be a very awkward time period in a person’s life. Four years ago, I made the intimidating switch from St. Mary’s School to Algoma High School. There were certain aspects of high school which made me nervous, but academics was not one of them. I learned how to be a responsible student in my earlier years, and school had always come relatively easy to me.
