I Pursue My Degree In Early Childhood Education

Teaching Philosophy Many years ago, I was a struggling student who quickly disliked school and everything about education. I struggled greatly until I finally had a teacher sit with me in eighth grade to help me find ways to study; in doing this she determined I had undiagnosed dyslexia. This turning point created much success for me in high school and I finally began to enjoy learning and challenging my mind. Because of these struggles I have become passionate about my adult education and about wanting to help young students gain their footing in an education system that can, at times, not find them until it is too late.
The experiences I had as a young student have fueled my desire to be a teacher. I believe in being an advocate for students and what they need. I also believe that a love for education can be sparked at this young age, as early as four and five years, and that early intervention can help students who may be experiencing a learning problem or developmental delay. This is the reason I am seeking my degree in early childhood education, I want to be that positive and lasting foundational educational experience for a student just starting out in school, as I believe that this can greatly improve educational success. …show more content…

Many materials will be hand created with some pre-fabricated as well, like a teaching calendar or an alphabet chart, allowing the ability to add personal touches tailored to each aspect of my student’s needs. Creating centers that children can develop fine motor skills, practice cooperative play, and explore science and other content areas will be essential components in my classroom. Using songs, story telling, games, and arts and crafts to explore learning will also be a necessity as these are prime ways in which young students learn and retain
