I’ve always wanted to become a Nurse because I believe I was meant to be a healer. All throughout my life I’ve been exposed to a wide variety of diagnosis in my family. The ones that had a direct effect on me was drug addiction and mental health disorders. Seeing my loved ones deteriorate right in front of me pushed me into the Nursing career. I want to promote prominent health changes in my community. I want the access and knowledge needed to be able to educate the people around me. Seeing bi-polar disorder and addiction first hand let me a see a side of human nature no one wants to experience. I believe I have a deep understanding in the complexity of human nature. Having this opportunity before going out into the real world will give me the experience, skills, and most of all a great relationship with a registered nurse. A person who can act as a mentor to guide me to a successful nursing career. Having this one-on-one relationship will allow open communication and trust between each other. This can make learning extremely beneficial. I could feel comfortable and assured that my questions and concerns will be addressed with confidence.
The nurse will also be able to provide continuous feedback on everything I do. Having someone who is always there by my side teaching me, interacting with me, and communicating with me, is something every nursing student wishes.
